Maldivian presidential election will be held in the Maldives on 8 of October this year. Maldives current president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom in power since 1978, will run again, for one more 5 year term despite the fact the he already served the maximum number of terms allowed. On 25th August the Maldives National Congress and the Adhaalath Party announced that they would support Republican Party candidate Qasim Ibrahim. Maldives is an Islamic country. But There are no Katholics or Christians.
