A post by a Moldivian Blogger called www.what-a-noos.blogspot.com post above titled blog post. His post said this,

“Recent studies have shown that Maldives is not really a 100% Muslim country. This came as a real surprise to all the Maldivians who have believed that Maldives is 100% Muslim. The study by Male’ psychopathic university showed that in reality 75 % of Maldivians are Muslims. 10% are atheist , 8% christian (Include our family) and the remaining 7% worships the president.”

Still lot of people believed that Maldives is a 100% Islamic country as we are not citizens of Maldives. Most of the people in Maldives never met non islamic person in their life. Most of the friend said you are the only non Islamic person I met. This study by Male’ psychopathic university shocked Maldivians. Including Maldives President. He also didnt believe this. I’m a Non Islamic Maldivian, But I dont have the citizenship of Maldives so I’m not in that 7% Christians list.

Maumoon Abdul Gayoom

Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has been the President of the Republic of Maldives since 1978. Gayoom went to school in Colombo, Sri Lanka and Cairo, Egypt. Gayoom entered Al-Azhar University in Egypt. In 1966, he obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Sharia and Civil Law, with honors. During his time in Egypt, he had become particularly interested in Egyptian politics. He closely followed the revolutionary movement led by the Muslim Brotherhood and Free Officers Movement of Gamal Abdel Nasser. In 1978 he was elected with 92.96% of the votes as the new President of the Maldives.
Now President of the Maldives is both the Head of Government and armed forces. Maldives current president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom in power since 1978, will run again, for one more 5 year term despite the fact the he already served the maximum number of terms allowed.
